"Robert Uhl
WAKONDA (SD)- Robert "Bob" M. Uhl, 73, formerly of Yankton, died Monday,
June 8, 1998, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton. Mr. Uhl was born Oct. 10,
1924, in Mapleton, Iowa. He moved to Yankton and attended Sacred Heart School
and graduated from Yankton High School. He served in the Army from
February 1944 to April 1946 and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.
He served in Japan in the military police.
He worked as a foreman at Nutrena Mills in Sioux City, Iowa, for 23
years. He retired and moved to Yankton on June 4, 1986. He moved to the
Wakonda Heritage Manor Nursing Home in May 1997.
He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and the Ernest-Bowyer
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 791, Yankton.
Survivors include two sisters: Lorine Fishbeck and Darline VanDriel, both
of Yankton; and a brother, Norman of Seattle (WA).
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Benedict Catholic Church, Yankton,
with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, with military graveside rites
by the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791.
Visitation is today from 4 to 9 p.m. in the church, with a 7:30 p.m.
rosary followed by an 8 p.m. Scripture service.
Kostel Funeral Home, Yankton, is handling the arrangements."
