Dear All
Here's wishing Bob a very happy birthday and a well deserved rest. I would also like to add my congratulations to all the new members of the Exec. May the FreeCEN project go from strength to strength.

As many of you will be aware, Bob Muchamore celebrates his 70th birthday on
April 1st. In January, Bob expressed a wish to step back from his current
high
level of day to day involvement with running the project, so that he can
have
a little more time to call his own. Many of you will also know that more
recently, Bob's wife Joan has been seriously ill, and that there are now
additional pressures on his time caring for Joan. He will step down from the
Exec on his Birthday.

Bob has been a steadying hand on the tiller at FreeCEN from the very
earliest days, and has stuck with it even through some of the more troubled
times. He was also instrumental in gathering the required information when I
came to build the OLDB, without which it would have taken many months longer
to get the search working. Whilst losing Bob's input from the exec is a blow
to FreeCEN, we are assured that we can call on him when we want some help,
and he can be assured that we will be taking him up on the offer.

So, we wish Bob a very happy 70th Birthday, all the best for his well
deserved retirement, and our best wishes for Joan's speedy recovery.

At the same time, due to increased family commitments, Jennifer Gribble
has decided to step down from the Exec. Jen hasn't been here as long as
Bob, but has worked hard for the project, and her input will be missed.

Finally, we note with regret that despite our best efforts, using all
possible means, we have been unable to make contact with Dawn
Perry-Taft for some months. We have been able to establish that Dawn
is alive and well, but all attempts to communicate have proved fruitless.
In the circumstances we have little option but to consider Dawn to have
resigned.

This leaves the Exec somewhat light on numbers. In order to continue to
drive the project forward, we have invited a number of additional people to
join the exec, and reassigned some roles.

Dave Newbury takes on the mantle of Chairman, and Brenda Bowers becomes Vice
Chairman. Both will continue in their existing roles, and Brenda will take
on some of Bob's work.
I will be doing much the same as I do now, with the addition of some of
Bob's work on PARMS files
Natalia McKenzie will continue to oversee the CD project, and will become
Country Co-ordinator for Wales.
Richard Bowden will join the Exec as Country Co-ordinator for Scotland
Carol Barber, Michael Borrill and John Pope will join the exec in a
transcriber support role, taking on some of Brenda's work

The new Exec, in summary, will be;
Dave Newbury: Chairman, External Relations, Project Manager, List Admin
Brenda Bowers: Vice Chairman, transcriber/PC software support, Ast List
Admin
Dave Mayall: Database support, PARMS, FreeUKGEN liasion
Natalia McKenzie: CD Projects, Country Co-ordinator(Wales)
Richard Bowden: Country Co-ordinator(Scotland)
Carol Barber: transcriber support
Michael Borrill: transcriber support
John Pope: transcriber support

I hope you will all join with me in wishing them luck as they take on their
new responsibilities.
