Hi again, Pam,
Yes, you are entirely right, it says "the writer" in brackets. And he is called
William DOCKER. There are quite a few people researching DOCKERs of Newby on the
Wetmorland Rootsweb list, including this William, but there was no mention of
him being a writer!
Ancestry did not have the front page of the district to show who was the
enumerator, but I assume you have that page on your CD?
Very intriguing, this!
