WEBPAGE REVIEWS

http://www.dorsetmigration.org.uk/
If you have any research interests in Dorest then this
website will fascinate you. I have to say that
although I don’t it still fascinated me! It is the
website of the Dorset Migration Index, which is
slightly misleading as the index itself is not on the
site, and I see no information that is planned to be.
However there is a fair bit of information about why
the index is being compiled and who is compiling it.
There is also a really good article about population
changes in Dorset. Well designed and easy to navigate
the website is attractive to look at as well as being
informative and interesting.

http://www.maltonhistory.info/
Readers of my reviews for any length of time will know
that this is exactly the sort of website I like. It is
a website about Malton in North Yorkshire, its history
and its people. It seems that this is one of the best
ways to share information on the web for family
historians – via strongly localised pages. Malton is
not an overly large place, but it is significant and
this is an attempt to draw information together for
others to share. There is information on BMD
announcements, Monumental inscriptions, censuses, and
also where to find other information. I suppose the
one thing I was looking for is a map, which is odd as
I know Malton quite well, but with this kind of site a
map can help people less familiar. Otherwise the site
was excellent, easy to use, extremely informative, and
containing actual useful records of people! This
little website is a credit to its compiler and one of
my favourites this month

CERTIFICATES

DEATH CERTIFICATES

Thomas Young, 29th Sept 1837 Painswick, Stroud

Thomas Young,13th March, 1839, Bisley, Stroud.
Thomas Young, 4th December, 1837, Dursley, Glos

If this is of use to you in your own personal
research, drop me a line
At and I will put you
in touch with the current holder
Meanwhile, if you have a certificate you don't need
that may be of use to someone else then drop me a
line, and we will advertise it in an upcoming
newsletter .

We have changed the certificate system a little, to
give hopefully an added opportunity for sharing
information. If you have a spare certificate that is
of no use to you at all then you can either send me
the details, as normal, or send me the certificate. If
the certificate is sent to me then it will be sent on
to any enquiries. All spare certificates sent to me
will have their details registered on Free BMD. After
six months if nobody has claimed the certificates as
interesting to their research then they will be
deposited at the SoG library. I will however keep all
the details of the certificate on file and pass them
on to any relevant one name studies registered with
the Guild of One Name Studies.

The address for spare certificates to be sent to is:
GFHN, 66 Northern Road, Aylesbury, HP19 9QY
