WEBPAGE REVIEWS

http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/
This is a most fantastic website. It is the nominal
roll for Australian Forces in World War Two. Compiled
from Service records it is aimed to honour those who
served in Australian Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force and
Merchant Navy). This obviously has interest to UK
researchers. Many of the servicemen of this period
were born in the UK and had emigrated, and obviously
many more are first or second generation immigrants.
This is a good place to look for possible missing
links in the early twentieth century, family members
who disappear may turn up here. It will also of course
be of interest to anyone who is undertaking a one name
study. This is a super website which is easy to use
and fast

http://www.leaman.freeserve.co.uk/
If you have any interest in the South Devon area you
will find this website, dedicated to Torquay
fascinating. This simple and efficient website
contains directory entries, census information and
much local history of the area. There is also a
listing of military and civilian deaths of people from
Torquay in World War Two. Also there is information on
LEAMAN and HOOPER families from South Devon. A nice
little website with some gems on it

http://www.jams.swinternet.co.uk/
A website devoted to sources for the study of Building
History. Ok, no strictly relevant to family history
but this is exactly the sort of site that will help
any researcher flesh out their family history. Many of
us have looked at the census and wondered what the
buildings our ancestors lived in were like, and
whether they still exist. Well this website will help
with this. It had frames which I found a
dissapointment, and the navigation is a bit confusing,
as you have both top and side navigation, but a little
persistence will mean you get the best out of the
site. My word of caution is don’t give up as there is
more than initially seems on the site. Full of
interesting information about building types and
styles.

that may be of use to someone else then drop me a
line, and we will advertise it in an upcoming
newsletter .

We have changed the certificate system a little, to
give hopefully an added opportunity for sharing
information. If you have a spare certificate that is
of no use to you at all then you can either send me
the details, as normal, or send me the certificate. If
the certificate is sent to me then it will be sent on

will have their details registered on Free BMD. After
six months if nobody has claimed the certificates as
interesting to their research then they will be
deposited at the SoG library. I will however keep all
the details of the certificate on file and pass them
on to any relevant one name studies registered with
the Guild of One Name Studies.
