WEBPAGE REVIEWS
http://brew.clients.ch/RAF41Sqdn.htm
This is a lovely website dedicated to the history of
RAFs 41 Fighter Squadron, and more importantly the
men that made up this squadron. It is a fascinating
source of information about the Second World War, The
RAF, and in particular the men who made up this
Squadron. I would personally recommend looking through
the biographies, they give a fabulous insight into the
men who so gallantly put their lives on the line to
defend this country. Well designed, quick and easy to
navigate this is a delight to browse. Have a look as
well at the descriptions of the various medals for
gallantry awarded, there are good descriptions of why
each medal was awarded.
http://users.bigpond.com/aftc/WallOfHonour/VirtualWallOfHonour.htm
This is a simple site, with a simple idea, but one
that I felt could be useful to those of us that seek
to trace a little wider than a direct family tree.
Many of us have a story of an ancestor emigrating,
particularly to Australia, from which point they often
disappear from family records, and out of sight
completely. This site is for Australians, who put
their immigrant ancestor on the wall with place of
birth and ship name and date. A quick look through
would easily see if there are any on the site that
could be your family, and each name has an email.
Simple, yet very effective.
http://halefamily.net/
An excellent source of information for anyone with
Hale family this website is a large list of
information from parish registers, census returns and
other information, including the history of the name.
There is a lot of information on the site, and
navigation is easy so it is quick to find what you
want. Browsing I found a little more difficult as the
graphics and images made the pages look a little
complicated, but I have to stress that this is merely
my taste, and others will find it less irritating. I
prefer a simpler graphic design! Otherwise there is no
doubt that this site has been extremely well put
together

READERS QUERIES
I have a two-part query about genealogical software:
what is the easiest package to use and does it run
under Windows XP?
Mark Harris
Looking for info on Richard Harwood born about 1794
England (London) listed on USA 1850 census. Said to be
related to a member of Parliament, no proof. I did
check "Members of Parliament" and did not see Harwood
listed so could be related on maternal side. Did see
some LesCellas names that were listed as Earl of
HAREWOOD. Need Birth, parents info and when he left
England for America. He was a school teacher in
Bedford Co., Pennsylvania.

I am trying to come up with a Time Line or Historical
Facts sheet for the UK and Ireland.
I have one for the US which is most helpful with many
of the diseases and disasters. I obviously have many
historical facts but would appreciate having events
all in one place, and in date order, for the UK and
Ireland. Does such a Time Line exist? Thanks for any
help.....
"Mary Gately"
As mentioned previously this is our new section,
well not so new now!, although of course it is an old
method of picking others brains! I get a lot of
enquiries and are realistically unable to answer them
all as I dont have the expertise
We will publish one query a week, and they will be on
first come first served basis.
To get a query published you must:
Make it less than 200 words in length
Include your name & email address for direct response
from subscribers
Send it to (please note this
is rob_caribbean) making the email title reader
query
Be a subscriber to the newsletter
To Respond:
Please respond directly to the reader, replies sent to
me will be forward, but by nature they will be
received much later
All we ask in return for a free entry is that the
person submitting tells us if it has been successful
and gives us a brief summary of the responses this
will allow others interested to learn as well
Please help out other readers when you can!
Information sharing is one of the best aspects of
Family History, and kindness will often be returned.
Above all Information sharing is the reason this
newsletter exists!
