Please could someone advise me about the following:
Augustus Christopher died at 130 Gloucester Road, Camden Town on October
24, 1898.
His death certificate read as follows:
"Knocked down and run over by a cart on October 5, 1898, when crossing
road. Accidental. Certificate received from Geo. Danford Thomas,
Coroner for London. Inquest held October 28, 1898".
I would be interested to discover whether this matter was reported in a
local newspaper at the time - the accident and/or the inquest. Does
anyone know if there was a local newspaper for the Camden Town area?
On another matter, I possess a volume containing all the issues of the
Illustrated London News for the year 1862. The paper covered national
and international news across a broad range of subjects with some
references to the wealthy and titled families as well as articles about
daily life, principally in the metropolis but also across the country.
This was the year of an International Exhibition in London, covered in
depth by the paper. Although not indexed, I would be happy to respond
to relevant requests for information upon request, as long as they are
not too time consuming - the volume runs to some 1,500 closely-typed
pages!
