I have done quite a lot of research on Industrial Schools in the 19th & 20th century and have gathered so far quite a lot of data on children being sent to Industrial Schools all over the country. The information I have collated so far is:-
most of the Industrial Schools from the 1881 census; some Industrial Schools for the 1871 & 1891 census, plus extracts from Court & School registers - in 99% of all data I have shows the boys name, where born and in some cases addresses, and age.
The Industrial Schools Act only extended to England and Wales, but a lot of children and servants working at the Schools were born in Ireland; in many cases especially the census returns it shown which County in Ireland.
I am intending to publish a web site at some time later this year, but in the meantime I would be prepared to do a look up service on what I already have and keep the name on file for further reference.
I am particularly interest on the West of England and South Wales Industrial School for Catholic Boys, Cannington, Bridgewater Somerset and have a lot of info on this School. I would be delighted to hear from anyone who had an Ancestor sent to this School
