Some relatives of mine - distant relatives - were watchmakers originally and
came from Coventry.

They are descended from William MAYO, watchmaker, 1816-1888.

William's 3rd child, Benjamin, born in St. John's, Coventry, in 1843,
started out in life as a watchmaker but moved to Nuneaton c1866, and became
a Licensed Victualler. He married my gt gt aunt, Sarah. Their son, also
called Benjamin, kept the "Royal Oak" in Attleborough Square.

Has anyone any connection or further information?
