Hello Marilyn and other newish Listers,
Welcome to the list:-)
I set up this list in March of this year, after receiving some workhouse
requests, and it took off from there. The list has many knowledgeable
subscribers, who often offer help, assistance and advice to posted requests.
In order to record this information for future reference, we set up the web
site now located at http://www.workhouses.co.uk It has grown tremendously
since April and many people have submitted information to be included
(special thanks must go to Alan and Betty Longbottom) all work submitted is
credited to that person.
All information can be viewed by County although there is a search facility
on the front page.
Some pages have lists of inmates, and many pages have census entries for
varying years, however, it is by no means complete YET:-)
The site also covers Hospitals and Asylums within the County Pages, and
recently I have included Almshouses and some Prison entries, as I have come
across them.

If anybody comes across any information, then just send it in. (Word or Text
files are appreciated due to formatting)

Turning to your original request, when you see the number of Workhouses in
Nottingham, you will see that further info is required to narrow down your
search. Do you have an area where they were living .... Parish? and do you
already have them from the 1851 census?
Look forward to hearing from you.
All the best, Jan
