Hi Sara,
The old adage about criminals and lunatics comes into play here as there is
generally more information on these less fortunate members of society than
on the law abiding ones.
Unfortunately the patient reocrds for this Asylum ahve not survived. There
are some general and administrative papers held at the London Metropolitan
archives but these are unlikely to give any patient information.
There are also records relating to lunatics held at the PRO at
Kew. These are less informative but better than nothing if the hospital
records haven't survived as they do give name, age, type of disability and
whether or not dangerous. There is also a register to patient files at the
PRO which could also give you date of admission to the asylum and date of
discharge or death.
