Hi Nancy,
Witton Cemetery may still hold copies of the burial registers at the
Cemetery. I would suggest that you phone them and ask if you can go along
and look yourself, some cemeteries will allow this and others won't.
I would also suggest you contact Birmingham Local studies library to find
out which burial registers they have copies of.
I really would recommened you contact them in advance as you may waste a
trip if they do not have a free microfilm reader for you to use or do not
have the records you want to look at.
A paupers grave basically means the person was buried in that days open plot
with whoever else was also being buried that day. The graves are unmarked
but the cemeteries have to keep records of where people are buried - they
will usually be able to give you a plot number so you can go to the right
spot in the cemetery.
Good luck in your search.
