Many thanks for your response.

My father had many relatives in Accrington, Lancashire, I've since
discovered, none of which, cared for him. His parents joined other relatives
in America, all of whom, did very well. As yet I haven't managed to find
his parents death certificates.
I know that he was brought up in orphanages, going from Lancashire to
Broadstairs in Kent,to Surrey, eventually working on a farm, but as for time
frames, and knowing which records offices to search, has got me up against a
brick wall.

As for School records, where does one start?

How do I find out where the Infectious diseases hospitals are, for that
area?

Any suggestions?
