Hello there,

I'm new to the list so excuse me if this is a stupid question.

I have a birth cert which may or may not belong to me. The birth took place in workhouse Bishopsgate. My lot usually resided in various streets off Brick Lane (all were married in Christchurch, Spitalfields) Would Bishopsgate workhouse serve this area? Also the cert is East London registration district, sub district St Botolph. Was is normal for babies born in workhouse to be registered in that district or in the mother's "home" area.
