I'm trying to find out more about his parents. There is no
> marriage record for them in St Leonard's & only one other son, John, was
baptised there. Would there be any more information contained in the
record of Edward's death, or, possibly, records when he was admitted to the
poor house. Where might Edward & Frances have come from? What happened to
John?

Hi Millicent,
The poor house records are unlikely to give you any clues as to where Edward
Bubb came from originally.

Have you searched back through the Deal parish registers to see if an Edward
Bubb was baptised there?

It was customary to marry in the brides parish, so marriages can be very
hard to track down.

I would suggest you check the Kent pages on GENUKI to see if there are any
marriage indexes you could check. The IGI may also give you an idea of where
the BUBB name was most common - that would then be a good place to start
looking.

Good luck
