Hi Pat,
The are some surviving records for the Rochdale Union, but they tend to be
more administrative type records (minute books, accounts etc.). Some records
are at Rochdale Central Library and others are at Lancashire Record Office
in Preston.
There is a book about Rochdale workhouse, "Down Poorhouse Lane: the diary of
a Rochdale Workhouse" published in 1984, author J Cole. I expect it is now
out of print, but you should be able to borrow a copy through a lending
library (if you are in the UK) or you could try searching the second hand
books websites.
