without luck. Am I right in thinking that the St. Marylebone School Hayes,
Middx is the school they might have gone to. Would I find any records of
their admission and discharge anywhere? If not that school any ideas on
where they might have gone? The two boys both were well educated one a
contractor's clerk and then company secretary and the other a commercial
traveller.

Hi Janet,

The children were almost certainly taken into care by the Union when their
mother became too ill to care for them. Somewhere in the workhouse admission
records, you should find the children and that record should tell you where
they were sent. They may have been admitted and discharged from the
workhouse on the same day but it is usuall to find a workhouse admission
record for a child who is then sent on to one of the workhouse homes.

St Marylebone had schools in Southall. The records are at the LMA catalogued
in with the St Marylebone Union records. The admission and sicharge register
for the school survivie from 1864-1916. You may only find the youngest child
there as the other two were old enought to be apprenticed out by 1864.

Good luck
