I am involved with Free-Cens Transcriptions and one of the volunteers is
at present transcribing 1841 Workhouse Records, and has encountered two
unusual abbreviations in the Employment column.

These are 'St' and 'L'.

We don't think St indicates Saint.

L we think could indicate Lunatic but strange to be employment colum.

Does anyone know if there was a system of abbreviations used in
Workhouse Records, or would be prepared a hazard a guess as to what
these two mean.
