Subject: Leek & Colchester Workhouses

Hello, my name is Helen Galea (nee Cater) from Brisbane Australia. Two of my ancestors were inmates of Union Workhouses. I have been on the excellent website users.ox.ac.uk/~peter/workhouse, however I am looking for more information relating to the period they were inmates.

Charles CATER died in the Colchester workhouse in 1860 - I believe he became an inmate when his wife Mary died in ~1851.
William CATER died in the Leek workhouse in 1901 - I believe he became an inmate when his wife Mary died in 1899.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who is researching family members who were inmates of either workhouse. Many thanks.
