HAVENT GOT A VOLUME NUMBER OR A PAGE NUMBER YOU CAN RING THEM AND THEY WILL
DO A SEARCH.YOU HAVE HER NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH.SO THERE SHOULDNT BE A

I was hoping someone might have access to records, or give me some direction
on what I should do, in relation to finding out anything further about a
resident of the ŒWorkhouse Dudley Road¹, Birmingham.

My gg grandmother is Agnes SOUTHALL nee HACKETT, born about 1864 in
Birmingham. After locating Agnes in the 1871 census record, it was revealed
that she also went by the name of Agnes WARD in earlier years. Agnes¹s 1886
marriage record gives her father as Harry HACKETT, a traveller.

Locating a birth record for Agnes has proven difficult, however I¹ve
recently obtained a copy of a birth certificate that may be her. This Agnes
WARD was born 1 May 1865 in the ŒWorkhouse Dudley Road¹ , Birmingham. The
mother is given as Ellen WARD, of the Workhouse. No father is stated.

FreeBMD includes registration of the death of an Ellen WARD, registered at
Birmingham during the June quarter of 1865. I¹m guessing this may well be
the mother of Agnes born 1 May 1865, perhaps Ellen having died during
childbirth or shortly thereafter.

I¹m hoping Workhouse records may exist, for instance...

* Admission and/or departure records of residents.
* Details of residents and/or employees of the Workhouse at particular
times. Even though the birth certificate that I have for an Agnes gives no
father¹s name, if this Agnes is indeed my gg grandmother, maybe a Harry or
Henry HACKETT was a resident or employee of the Workhouse around
August/September 1864, being about the time that Agnes was conceived.
Although of course it could be that Ellen entered the Workhouse whilst
enceinte.
* Details of anyone born or having died in the Workhouse, or baptism
records.

I have emailed the Birmingham Central Library and the Catholic Archdiocese
of Birmingham (which apparently holds some baptism records of the Workhouse
in question). I haven¹t heard back as yet, but thought it would be worth
asking this list also.

Any tips appreciated.
