I live quite near to the old Chell Workhouse. Until very recently it was
used as a hospital. There was a photograph in the local newspaper, the Sentinel,
some years ago which showed what life was like in Chell Workhouse at
Christmas. I don't where I've filed it at the moment!

Chell is near to Burslem, in fact it's between Burslem and Tunstall.
Wolstanton is a few miles away. I'm surprised if people from Wolstanton were sent
across to Chell as Chell is part of Stoke-on-Trent and Wolstanton is part of
Newcastle, and the two have always been separate.

I'll try and dig out some more information locally, and post it to this
e-mail address if it will be of any help to people trying to find out about their
relatives in North Staffordshire.
