In doing some Ellis Island searching I came up
with the name town name of Nierzyn as the last
residence of a suspected relative who arrived here in 1904.

Doing a Google search, there isn't much on it,
but there does seem to be a PLACE called Nierzyn
. See below that I copied from two web pages.

CONTACT INFORMATION for Ukrmetalprom, Ltd.

Management phone: +380 (4631) 41175, 45294

and what looks like an on-line city directory under the heading of:

CZERWIEC

1 czerwca
Gorzów wlkp.

akademickie mistrzostwa europy
w koszykówce
AZS PWSZ Gorzów Wlkp.
26 czerwca-27 sierpnia
Nierzyn

On the other hand, there are about 13,000 Google
entries for Nezhin which is a town about 100 Km
SE of Chernigov. See
http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=3550000.95724473&Y=6600000.30341454&width=500&height=300&gride=3550011.95724473&gridn=6595179.30341454&srec=0&coordsys=mercator&db=w3&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=1&scale=500000

That's one spelling. Zoom out two clicks to see
the same site spell it Nizhyn. The same site
gives no returns for the spelling of "Nierzyn".

Does anyone have an explanation? Clearly the
company Ukrmetalprom, Ltd. located in Nezhin is
using it in their address as is someone
else. Is/was "Nierzyn" a part of "Nezhin" at one
time, like Brooklyn is a part of NYC?

thanks,

Ralph
