OK, I FINALLY after all these years spoke to Galina on the phone. She calls
me "Dahlink". I love it <<<grin>>>>.
The lights in Odessa go on and off. They have no electricity at night and
she uses candles. I guess that pretty much kills storing food in the
fridge. The lights in the Archives go on and off. They cannot carry candles
for obvious concerns about fire. She says their 'lanterns' are very bad (I
will assume the 'lanterns' are flashlights).
As far as the cat food goes, apparently she cannot buy this food in Odessa
(the special diet she needs for her cat). So I'm thinking that maybe, if
you all agree, I will take part of the donations and purchase batteries,
good flashlights, and cat food (special diet) and make up a carton. I will
happily send anyone copies of the receipts. By the way, if anyone would
feel more comfortable, I will send copies of any receipts for anything that
has to do with her to anyone who wants to see them. I wouldn't blame anyone
in the least for wanting to know. I know I have an honest face but only
Art, Mark Grekin, and Jane Lowenkron have seen it :-).
Kindest regards to all
