Dear Group,

Is there anyone out there who posses the Elman/Umaner surname in their family tree?
My great grandma Briana Elman originated from Odessa she had 2 brothers. She left Odessa around 1900 and came to settle in Liverpool UK.
She always talked about her 1st cousin Miche Elman - who came from Talnoye Russia and went to live in the USA and became the famous violinist. (her father and Mische father were brothers, very religious hebrew teachers)

After researching several web sites I have found out about Miche Elman, his sister Nadia, his parents Saul Elman and his grandparents Joseph Elman (Yosele), who was a folk musician. Apparently the name was Umaner. Joseph Elmans/Umaner's father was a wedding jester.

Is anybody out there related or can give me guidence where to possibly look next. As its funny i am 4th generation family down, and all our family are performers both musical, and or singers within the entertainment industry, myself being a TV producer in the UK. Its funny what gets handed down through the genes. Please email me on.
