Hi Fred. With you leaving on the 27th, I'd better get busy! Here's what I
have. Thomas Underwood Sr. born c1625 in England to Anne Arundle, Md in
1650. There are some early records which provide pretty solid evidence that
he was married to Elizabeth Meeres born 1627 (VERY probably of England also).
Their son, Samuel Underwood born 1655 married Mary Ann Wilcocks. Samuel
died in 1722 in Christiana Hundred, Delaware. Mary Ann was born in Maryland.
Samuel and Mary Ann had two sons, Joseph born 1684 in Middle Neck, Anne
Arundle Country, Md who married Rachel ?. Joseph died November 27, 1744 (or
1766 Death Records from Bible). The other son, William Underwood born 1780
married Hannah Willis. Our ancestor was Joseph Underwood (above). Joseph
and Rachel ? had:

.1 William Underwood born December 10, 1733 in New Castle, Delaware. He
married on April 27, 1757 Elizabeth Dixon (have lots more on this line) at
the Central Meeting of Quakers. William died April 13, 1801 (See Joseph
Underwood Bible Records). I have lots more lines from Dixons.

.2 Mary Underwood born November 9, 1735

.3 Susania Underwood born May 29, 1738

.4 Ann Underwood born August 20, 1740

.5 Sara Underwood born August 30, 1742

I have a copy of the Bible records if you're interested

William Underwood and Elizabeth Dixon: William born December 10, 1733 in New
Castle, Delaware married Elizabeth on April 27, 1757 at Central Meeting of
Quakers Bible Record. William died April 13, 1801. Elizabeth was born in
Delaware 1727 and died March 11, 1832. She was the daughter of William Dixon
and Hannah Hollingsworth. William and Elizabeth had:

.1 Rachel Underwood born May 1, 1758

.2 Isaac Underwood born September 23, 1760 died 1816 married Margaret ?

.3 Joseph Underwood born October 3, 1762 in New Castle married Sara ? on
April 16, 1791 in Delaware

.4 William Underwood born December 10, 1764

.5 Samuel Underwood born January 26, 1767 in New Castle married Elizabeth
Barkhouse. Died 1836 in Tyler County, West Virginia (our ancestor)

.6 Hannah Undewood born March 22, 1770 married Joseph Davis. Hannah died
April 22, 1833

.7 Elizabeth Underwood born May 1, 1772

Samuel Underwood born January 26, 1767 married Elizabeth Barkhouse had Samuel
Underwood born December 25, 1793 in Delaware. He married 1822, Margaret
George . Samuel died June 18, 1865. I have more on George family-this is
our ancestor.. Will close for now and pick up later.

There's a book on Thomas Underwood Sr. and Elizabeth Meeres. It's titled
"Thomas Underwood, (1650) Immigrant, & His Descendants (Including Kin with
Royal Ancestry) by Billie Redding Lewis. UNFORTUNATELY...it's still
copyrighted and not available for circulation from Salt Lake. I found a copy
in the Quaker College in Richmond, Indiana and need to go back there and
painstakingly copy it page by page. It offers the theory that Thomas
Underwood and Thomas Meeres, a friend or relative, went to Md. soon after
landing in Virginia. They were probably Quakers. Thomas Underwood is listed
in Skardos's EARLY SETTLERS OF MARYLAND as "immigrant", meaning he paid his
own transportation, but Elizabeth was "transported"; evidently, Thomas paid
for her transportation probably to Maryland. (I'm quoting the text of the
book here and make no judgement).

Well will continue on before the 27th if you like.....or I can xerox my
descendancy chart and notes-----would need your address to send it to you
though (: Best to another cousin. Kay
P.S. Hope I haven't made any typos in going so fast!
