Hi Doc,

Well I still got some fight left in these old Tory bones yet.....

With three simple questions "The Patriot" web site tells me that
YOU ARE MOST LIKE GEORGE WILKINS - A LOYALIST

Your family has been loyal colonists for a hundred and fifty years. The
Wilkins were on the first boat arriving in James Town in 1607, and living
through the Powhatan Indian attack when a third of the settlement was
killed. Your grandmother remembered her grandmother's stories of
Pocahontas, Powhatan's daughter. As far as you're concerned, the Crown has
always provided for those who help themselves. You fought in the French and
Indian War with Martin and others; you're no coward. The King's troops
helped then. The taxes you pay are only fit; they're for continued
protection. All countries issue taxes, and always will. Three pence on a
pound of tea is hardly a strain. As for "taxation without representation,"
Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool aren't represented in Parliament; none
of Britain's other colonies are. Why should America be different? King
George is just. You have several cousins in both Houses of Parliament and
are assured that a gentleman's honest work will still pay. Britain may not
be perfect, but it is still far better than any other civilized nation on
earth. Those who have prospered in the New World through the sweat of their
brow need not see it be burned in a senseless conflict. Farmers cannot
fight the world's most powerful military in your backyards. You won't see a
century and a half of your family's work, and your own blood shed in the
last war, come to nothing because certain malcontents refuse to shoulder
their load. You know what loyalty is. You were born and will die an
Englishman.

After being informed by the Hollywood machine that I am a Loyalist I will
have a new-found spring in my step at the Landing at Adolphustown on June
17th, 2000.

PS - To Don in Ontario - Benjamin Martin is the "hero," Mel Gibson's
character. Have at em, Braveheart!
