Hello Art
I have a Loyalist Section on my homepage, The Olive Tree
Genealogy, which should provide you with all details you
require to access any of John Horning's microfilmed
information
You can order the UCLP (Upper Canada Land Petitions)
indexes from your local FHC (all this is explained on my
pages) These indexes will provide you with what you need for
John to access the full record i.e. the full petition(s) he would
have made in order to obtain a land grant as a Loyalist

I also have a list of online resources for Loyalists. You may
be able to find John in the regimental muster rolls that are
online.
Although you are in Texas there are still many records
available to you IF you are near a FHC. If, like me, you are
not, then you will have to rely on others with kind hearts :-)
My Loyalist section has a part called HOW TO FIND YOUR
LOYALIST ANCESTOR, and you may find this helpful when
researching long distance.
If you can provide a few more details on John Horning, it
might be easier to help you - his wife's name? Children?
There was a Horning family at Niagara but I don't know if it's
the same one as your Kingston John Horning -- and more
details would help.
