Sharilyn,

In my experience, I have never seen someone receive a Loyalist land grant as
both a Loyalist and the son of a Loyalist. In fact, some men did "qualify"
in both categories but it seems the prevailing policy was to make the grant
only once. It would be interesting to hear if anyone has found a situation
where this differs.

There are many, many instances where a husband and wife, both children of
different Loyalists, petitioned and received their SUE and DUE grants. So if
your wife was the daughter of a UE, she could have applied for her share.
There is the implication that she was not entitled (not a DUE) if she did
not petition, but possibly other reasons? Did you check the indexes under
both her birth and married names? All spelling variations? Did she die
before she could petition?
