Hello Rick,
since nobody else seems to have answered your question,
at least not over this UEL mailing list, I want to at least
acknowledge to have read your enquiry, and thought about it
for a moment. -
Now to your question - where were the Reissner's between 1776-1783?
They were at the only place they could have been - New York!
That was rhe 'safe haven' for Loyalists, and when the time came,
the time of realization that's all over, in 1783, every ship was
put into service to evacuate the mass of refugee loyalists,
Provincial and Bristish soldiers (and of course, some Hessians)
from New York to Nova Scotia and what is now New Brunswick.

Please read:
Esther Clark Wright - The Loyalists of New Brunswick
D.G.Bell - Early Loyalist, Saint John, New Brunswick.
Both books available through Inter Library Loan.
have fun,
Cheers,

(Yes, still at it :)

I'm researching the Reissner family that belonged to the German Reformed
Church in New York City before the Revolutionary War. Most of the
congregation left the city between 1776 and 1783 and few church records
were kept during that period. In 1783 the Loyalists were evacuated to
New Brunswick. Does anyone have any idea where these Loyalist families
were from 1776 to 1783? Thanks for any help.
