Art.....
Yes, I seen WEB site from Bob. I have Philip Buck that he referring to.
That, I can prove. But this George Buck is not proven. And there seems to
be about 14 George Buck's flying around.
I have been trying to find more about him. I cannot put a solid claim to
him.
Just that his stats seem to combine with Philip Buck.
This is what I have on George Buck:
George Buck is on the "Original UE Roll at Elizabethtown" - O.C. 7 April 1807
at Kingston, Frontenac, Ontario. "Employed in assisting and directing
persons on Secret Service"
Born in Upper Rhöne Valley, Germany (Same as Philip and father Frederick).
Died 1805 Kingston, Ontario.
>From book below, I agree it does not show a John Buck as a son. It is
possible that he was "not in residence" when census was taken, plus several
other reasons. So I have held on to his name, hoping to find if he is or not
the son of George Buck.
His "son" John Buck married Rachel Davis was sent to me by a "cousin." The
only source I can find is in the 1871 census, as below.
"A John Buck was in 1871 census as living in Bertie Twp, Welland Co. CAN. Age
matches, 50 yr old."
I would be most please if someone else would offer information. Have not
been able to prove much, but we have to start somewhere........Beth.......

Text: Email from; to Ronald
Rodger Caseby dated, 09 May 2000 13:49, Dear
Ron:Absolutely all I know about Caseby is from
research my cousin in Texas did to be a member of
DAR. She did not have to go past 10th
generation, and she did not. I have been trying
to. Anyway, Elizabeth Caseby married Jan Hops
and their daughter Elizabeth Hops leaped into my
proven family tree via marrying George Buck who
was born in 1740 in Germany, married her in New
York and died in 1804 in Ontario, Canada. Their
son Frederick George Buck, born December 22, 1
770 in New York, married Dorothy Anna (Hannah)
Snook (her parents were Martinus Schnuk (Mart in
Snook) and his wife Elizabeth Schauerman (whose
parents were Johann Emerick Schauerman an d Ann
Catherine Schertz) and Dorothy and Frederick
George Buck's son Frederick Buck was born May 16,
1816.
If that helps. If you are interested, the latter,
Frederick Buck was the grandfather of
my great grandmother, and I have a lot of other
ancestors related to HER. I'm not very good, at
all, on the web except for checking
www.telescope.com for the astronomical
doings in the sky weekly and e-mailing. But I
will try your sites. I''m sorry I don't know
anything about Elizabeth Caseby except her
descendants. My cousin had her husband as Jan
Hops. Maybe it is your Hopp connection. Thanks
for writing. Write anytime, because I fell heir
to a 30-cd set of Family Tree Maker 7

you. Regards, Diane.
On 13/05/2000 Diane WOOD added the following data
in an email;
"Elizabeth Caseby married Jan Hops or Hopps.
Their daughter Elizabeth Hopps
married, in New York, George Buck, who was born
in 1740 in Germany. Their
son Frederick George Buck married Dorothy Anna
(Hanna) Snook (Daughter of
Martinus Schnuck and Elizabeth Schauerman (who
was daughter of Johann Emerick
Schauerman and Ann Catherine Schertz) (who was
the daughter of Andreas
Schurz and Catharina Apollonia Steiver) Johann's
father was my favorite
ancestor, Conrad Schauerman who came here in 1710
after marrying Maria Salome
Schneider on April 3, 1703.) That isn't as
confusing as it sounds.
Frederick George's son was Frederick Buck, born
May 16, 1816, who married
Mary Ann Makin on October 17, 1837. Their child
was Harriet Matilda Buck,
born February 11, 1839 in Ontario Canada. She
married William Wilson Huff,
and THEIR daughter, Violetta Elizabeth Huff was
my great grandmother. She
married on December 27, 1882 in Illinois, Warren
Henry Gibbons, born July 29,
1858 in Dekalb County, Illinois. One of their
daughters, Grace Harriet (They
had 7: Tommy, who died when he was 9, Mae, Ruth,
Rachel, Bill, Bernice, and
Evelyn) married Newton Thomas Bailey born April
27, 1884 on Oconne Shelby
County, Illinois and one of their two sons,
Warren Marvin [which name he
hated and never used, and everyone to a person
all his life since grade
school called him "Duke.") Bailey was my and my
sister's beloved Daddy".

Subject: [UEL] Re: Unusual Question w/ spy story!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"
Well....OK.. you asked for it w.
The story of my spy 'in the family' should be told by one of his descendants,
of whom I know several. But he was the brother of my 5th great grandfather,
my Uncle. He had come to America about 1744ish, with his younger brother,
father, and his mother, from Upper Rhone Valley, Germany. My little spy was only
4 years old at the time. They settled in the Philadelphia area where his
father made a nice living on a little farm.
Both boys grew up, got married and moved to the Mohawk Valley, the spy made
his home in Fonda, NY. The brothers joined the US military at Fort Stanwick in
about 1860, but things didn't set well with them, so they left.
The poor spy had a problem with his foot, some say from an injury and some
say a 'club foot', which has yet to be determined. Unable to fight for the
cause but yet was Loyal to the Crown, he became a spy for them.
He had his family started and had 6 children before he became a 'undercover
agent.' Being very sly and stealth, he was never exposed, that at least not
that I know of. He did what he could while seeing to his family, which was
growing. By 1784 they had a total of 10 kids. (I would think, just keeping tack
of 10 kids would be enough to keep him busy!)
When things started to settle down and the Crown ordered everyone that was a
Loyalist to come to Canada by 1784, to make their homes with free land that
they had earned, George took his family to Kingston, Ontario to settle into a
new land and make a new home for his family.
The younger brother continued to be a Loyalist and fought under Capt. Butler.
Was captured, held at New York City, released and rejoined Capt Butler in
Quebec in about 1778-9. And stayed in service until 1784.
Spies are hard to come by, you know, but George Buck, of Kingston and his
brother, Philip Buck (settled Bertie Twp. Niagara area) have many descendants
known today. Many still in Ontario, but many more have settled here in the
States, much to our pleasure.
-------
NOW..Does anyone know where information might be for spies?
I went to the web site that was suggestion but nothing there.
And does anyone else have a 'spy' story???

Hello listers;
George BUCK, Elizabethtown Twsp., Leeds County, Ontario. Old list UEL. Lot 4, Con 7
Lot 20. Con 8
I am a new lister seeking infomation on a recently discovered ancestor. I know he had a son,
Joseph, b 1774, m to Mary Hagerman.Have list of those offspring. All this courtesy of a published family
history and the helpful publisher who came to my aid as a result of a plea on Upper Canada web-
site. Kudos to Marg Hagerman!
I would like to know about George's birthplace, origin, parentage, siblings, marriage and children, from where he served as a UEL. I have requested the Burleigh Papers and would appreciate any helpful information
