Subject: Subscribers Mailbox full!
Date: Thu, 03 Jun 1999 18:36:00 -0700
Hello, subscribers, may I ask you for a big favour, please.
In the last two days I must have had between thirty and forty bounces
of messages to list subscribers, whose mailboxes have been full. The
notification of such bounces always ends up in my own personal mailbox
because I am the listowner.
Let me explain how it works:
My subscriber programm is set up in such a way that when a subscriber's
box is full and the postings of other subscribers are bouncing on
account of that, after four bounces this subscriber is automatically
unsubscribed by the subscribe robot. Now another strange twist,
the robot also issues a unsubscribe message to that address,
and of course, that one bounces as well, the subscriber never gets to
read it. It also ends up in my box.
So please do not let your mailbox run over, if you are going away for
a time, do the fair thing - unsubscribe until you come back - and when
you come back, subscribe again. You can check the archives easy to see
if you missed something in the meantime.
And for you who wonder why suddenly there are no more messages from
the list, it may be that your box was full and the robot unsubbed you.
Subscribe again.
John Merz, listowner.
