Dear Leigh and others interested in WW1 ancestors,

My apologies -- my last post gave directions to one of my sites ---
The Canadian Military Heritage Project -- but on going there myself
I see the page is not as clearly laid out as it should be for finding
your WW1 ancestor. You must click on the link to the NAC
(national Archives of Canada) once at my page.

You need to access the online CEF (Canadian Expeditionary
Force) database at the National Archives of Canada

You can also get there by going to

http://www.archives.ca/

then selecting your language choice (Eng or Fr). Then choose
ArchiviaNet (the NAC search engine). Next pick the CEF database
for WW1. Then choose Search the Database (they don't make it
easy to get to it!) and type in the name of your man Robert Evans.

When you find him, note his reg. #. If you find more than one,
ignore the #s and just write to the NAC at the address given online -
-giving the date of birth (estimate is okay), name and place of
enlistment of your guy. Give his parent's or spouse's name if
known. Ask for the full record, not just the Attestation Papers.

I plan on elaborating the explanation on The Canadian Military
Heritage Project this weekend, so that it is clearer how one does
this.

btw I have KING from Suffolk England coming to Ontario in the
1830s. :-)

Lorine
