I would be interested in hearing from any other descendants of :

Sergeant JOHN ROSS (1730-1808) to Canada with the 26th Cameronians
Light Infantry in Aug. 1787, with wife ELIZABETH BROOKS and 2
children. Retired from regiment; received grant of 200 acres in York in
July 1795. Elizabeth Brooks was bapt. in Birmingham in 1750; her
parents may have been Samuel Brooks and wife Rebecca ..
Elizabeth died in York in 1828.

Their children were:
1) MARY, b 1784 in Dublin. Married Thomas MOSLEY in York, Ontario,
in 1804
2) JAMES, b 1786 in Kinsdale, Cork, Ireland - or on ship (?); d 1868
in Newmarket, York Co. Married ELIZABETH WELLS (a daughter
of WILLIAM WELLS, b Wantage, Eng in 1760, and JANE MARTIN,
b Chilton Foliot, Wiltshire in 1761; settled in
York about 1808.) James fought in the 1812-14 War, captured in
the capitulation of York. Bought Lot 3, Conc. 2, York
(Clergy Reserves).
3) (WILLIAM) b in Quebec City 1787, died as infant
4) (KATHERINE) b Oct 1788 in Fort St John, Quebec, d 1790
5) JOHN, b June 1791 in Fort Niagara; got land grant in York in 1850
6) SUSANNA, b Oct 1793 in Isle aux Noix, Quebec
7) (WILLIAM) b. June 1795 in Lachine, Quebec, d as infant in Fort
Niagara
8) ROBERT, b 1797 in Newark, Ont, d 1887 in King Township. York
County. Served in 1812-14 War; Married MARIA SMITH
9) GEORGE, b 1799 in York; d age 72
10) THOMAS , b 1803 in York; granted Lot 3, Conc. I of York in 1850.

10) JOSEPH 1827- 1899; Prop. Of Globe/Bay Horse Hotel in Toronto; died
in Winnipeg. Married Margaret FARRELL (1837-1921),
dau of James FARRELL and Isabelle HUTCHINSON of York.
