Subject: [UPP-CAN] John A Foreman, Jr. and the Canadian Rebellion
Date: Fri, 07 Jul 2000 12:29:34 -0700
Hello,
John A. Foreman, Jr. wrote in a biography that he had served in the
Canadian Rebellion during the years 1838-9. John was 13 years of age at
the time. The date, 1837, is when the conflict began. I haven't looked
into this to see how long the conflict lasted. I wonder if he would be
found on a record as having served. This has not been a priority with me
because as a volunteer, and considering his age, I doubted that a record
would remain (if there had been one).
John was born Jan 9, 1825 in Lewiston, Niagara Co., NY to John Foreman
and Margaret McLaughlin, daughter of James McLaughlin, Loyalist.. The
family lived in Grantham, and John, Jr. may have taken part in the
Hamilton conflict. The family later lived in Halton. I don't know when
they relocated.
Is it logical that John Foreman, Jr. could be found in these records?
Thanks, Elynore
