Can anyone enlighten me on the following:
Where can I find records of immigration to Canada from the US circa
1870?
Where can I find records of emigration to the US through Sault Ste.
Marie about 1880?
If a person born in the US moved to Canada and then returned to the US,
would they have to be naturalized in the US upon their return?
I am trying to track an elusive ancestor - Robert Harper. One family
story says he was born in Pennsylvania, moved to Canada, married and
later went to Minnesota. BUT he has a naturalization record and is
listed as a naturalized citizen on the 1900 census. I believe the story
has become garbled.
Ideas and information welcome.
