In 1950 Dr. H.C. Burleigh transcribed the "Confiscations of Albany, Charlotte and Tryon Counties, New York." The originals can be found in the State Library, Albany, NY.

Under KINGSBURY, Charlotte County confiscations is found:

LUCAS, Daniel, Yeoman

I am seeking information on this Daniel Lucas, his family and his circumstances following the Revolution.

It is my belief that he is the brother of my ancestor AMOS LUCAS who operated a safe house, for the Tories, in Kingsbury during the war. Amos Lucas, b.1728 Middletown, Middlesex CT had a brother, Daniel b. 10 Oct 1725 Middletown. Daniel m. New Haven 2nd Church 27 Nov 1746 to Elizabeth Foster. Amos & Daniel were the children of Daniel & Prudence LUCAS.

Amos died in 1784 but his family settled in Fredericksburgh, Lennox Co. [Ontario]. His widow, Susannah Swaddle Lucas married Samuel Brownson, who also had land confiscated at Kingsbury.

Brandt Zätterberg
