I believe that free land was given to those who fought for and swore oaths
of loyalty to the King. I don't know about Quakers but the Mennonites would
neither fight nor swear oaths and therefor didn't qualify for land and they
came to Canada without the status of United Empire Loyalist.They were
welcomed in the Niagara Penninsula by the natives who recognized their love
for the land and for their sense of community.
