As part of the Friends of the Archives lecture series, two popular sessions
with an abbreviated "What's in the Archives" tour, is offered on Saturday,
November 24, 10:15am- 4:15pm at the Archives of Ontario.

The workshop includes,

Sources for Local History
Whether you are working on a local history or simply trying to understand
your ancestor's place in their community, using a case history approach,
this session will look beyond the commonly used sources at the Archives of
Ontario. We will explore an assortment of records rich with information
about specific communities -- including municipal records, personal and
business fonds, Tweedsmuir histories, maps, library resources, surveyors'
records, township papers and other Crown Land records.
Instructor: Jane MacNamara

Ontarians at Home
This session will explore the thousands of images of homes and domestic life
in the Archives of Ontario. Using inventories and other finding aids in
the Special Collections Reading Room, we will look at township and
subdivision plans, insurance and other maps to study locations. We will
view the structures in architectural drawings. We will see them come to
life in photos of homesteads, neighbourhoods, interiors and domestic
activities, and explore the impact of retailers like Eatons.
Instructor: Christine Bourolias, Archivist.
