Hello Lorine, hello all!
I did put this on the Crookshank message board at Rootsweb, but I think
there will be more help from the list. Here it is:
CROOKSHANK's from Ireland.
Author: Johannes Helmut Merz
Date: 4 Feb 2002 2:25 AM GMT
Surnames: CROOKSHANK, STINSON, PLANT/PLANTE, FARROW.
I am trying to work on a family tree for my daughter-in-law,
in other words on my grandchildren's tree. Ain't easy!
I have been handed a handwritten note with the following remarks:
James CROOKSHANK born 1797 in Ireland.
wife Catherine (no name) born 1803 in Ireland.
Son James Isaac CROOKSHANK, b.1835 d. May 13, 1903.
wife Catherine Ellen STINSON, b.1838, d. July 21, 1894.
Their daughter Ellen Katherine CROOKSHANK, b.11.March
1865, died 23.Dec.1934, married
Isaac Walter PLANTE, b. 1859, d. 1924.
had at least three children in unknown order:
Charlotte Ellen PLANTE b.1897 marr. Walter Earl Farrow,
John James PLANT
Harvey Irwin PLANT (they dropped the 'e' from the name)
The locations of all the above is in the BRUCE-GREY
county of Ontario, Canada, around Wiarton, Port Elgin)
I need to know when and where exactly Charlotte Ellen is
born, and if someone has researched this particular
Crookshank line. I am not too familiar with English/Irish
surnames, but I do know that there are many CRUIKSHANK
names around, and I wonder if I am working on the right tree.
