I've seen dates and months off as much as 5 years on many of the census not
only 1901. I was told that often enumerators asked the age and then
subtracted it from the month and year, often getting it wrong......some were
high, some low...some obviously couldn't subtract! I think you might notice
that individual enumerators were often off by the same amount in either
direction. Then, couple that with researchers and/or transcribers who
couldn't read the writing......birthdates are often just a wild guess !! I
fugure if the dates are close and the parents and siblings match...yipee!
