Jim,
Do you happen to know why your Watsons moved from Southwold to northern
Illinois?
My Bryant Wade, his wife and some, but not all of his grown children, moved
from the Talbott area of Southwold in 1838 and went to Ogle County Il.
Rockville twp. Bryant apparently died the next year. One of his grown
daughters, Emeline, married to Jacob Griffin, showed up shortly in Boone
County. They are my ancestors. There is much more, but my question has to do
with motivation. I am wondering if their move was inspired in any way by the
uprising in 1837. By they way, these folks were dedicated Free Will
Baptists.
Any speculation?
