I have to disagree. I've been an Ancestry.com subscriber for...well I
can't remember NOT being an Ancestry subscriber. The price of the
subscription has been 'given' to me by my husband and children each
Christmas so even though I know the cost I don't have to bear it. That
being said, I've found many errors as well...but have used those to
prove/disprove family associations and with many of the documents being
viewable now, I can take a look myself.
Do I have to work at this...you betcha...but I don't have to do any of my
research on someone else's timetable. I travel a lot for work and have
used Ancestry.com to track relations and go to the site where they
(Ancestry) got their information. For me the census records alone are
invaluable...and yes there are errors and goofs...but again for me that's a
small price to pay for 'finding' a lost relation. Add the
birth/death/marriage records and I'm a very happy camper.
I'm just now beginning my search for some of my husbands relations in
Canada...so I may weigh in on Ancestry.ca at a later date!
