I have received your note about the photograph. My grandfather was Henry
Urich. He arrived in New York and from there went to Iowa and settled in
Kansas City. He and his wife Aurelia had one daughter and six boys. None
were named George and I don't know of a George L. R. Urich. I do know that
some Urich's settled in California but are not related. I wish I could help
but I know it's a help just to narrow down a search. Good luck to you!

Unfortunately, he's not part of my Urich reasearch. Sure wish he was...old
photographs
are so rare and such a treasure! I've been able to track down quite a few
but

I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Geo L. R. URICH which was
taken at the Demmer Studio in Creighton, Nebraska. The photograph appears
to have been taken in the 1890's and indicates that Geo is 3 1/2 months old
at the time and weighs 14 1/2 lbs. Based on limited research I was able to
locate the family in census records as follows:

1900 census of Spade Township, NE:

Geo URICH, age 45, born May 1855, married 7 years, born NY, parents born
Switzerland/NY, a Farmer
Mary URICH, wife, age 26, born Aug 1873, married 7 years, 4 children/1
living, born Denmark, parents born Denmark, to USA 1888
George URICH, son, age 2, born Jun 1897, born NE
Helen ROUSE, boarder, age 19, born 1881, born NE, a Teacher

1910 census of Stuart Township, NE:

George A. URICH, age 55, married 16 years, born NY, parents born
Switzerland/NY
Mary A. URICH, wife, age 38, married 16 years, 5 children/2 living, born
Denmark, parents born Denmark, to USA 1888
George L. R. URICH, son, age 13, born NE
Lucy URICH, dau, age 10 months, born NE

I am hoping to locate someone from this URICH Family so that this wonderful
old treasure can be returned to their care.
