John M. Moore
GILFORD — John Mirick Moore, 68, of 286 Dockham Shore Road, died at his
home on Thursday, April 19, 2001.
Mr. Moore was born May 31, 1932 in Malden, Mass., the son of George L.
and Laura I. (Mirick) Moore. He lived in Reading, Mass., for most of his
life, moving to Gilford six years ago.
Mr. Moore was graduate of Malden High School and Northeastern
University. He was an electrical engineer for GTE Spacenet International
for 36 years and retired in February 1993.
Mr. Moore was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Gilford,
and was the financial secretary for five years. He served 17 years as a
District Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America and was a Director
for the 1979 National Jamboree held in Pennsylvania. He was the
recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and also served on the Board of
Directors for the Minuteman Council, Boy Scouts of America.
He was the first Metro Fire Coordinator of the Greater Boston and 34
surrounding communities for 22 years. He had been the Assistant
Coordinator for the last four years. He was also a charter member of the
Embers Retired Metro Chiefs in the Greater Boston area.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann (Olson) Moore of Gilford; three
sons, William T. Moore of Georgia, Gregory J. Moore of New Hampshire and
Frederick L. Moore of Massachusetts; three daughters of love, Pamela J.
Moore of Georgia, Linda D. Moore of New Hampshire and Elizabeth A. Moore
of Massachusetts; eight grandchildren, William T. Moore II, Laura M.
Moore, and Kathryn A. Moore, all of Georgia, Logan J. Moore and Robert
O. Moore, both of New Hampshire, Brittany P. Moore, Bryanna J. Moore and
Tyler S. Kaplan, all of Massachusetts; a brother, the Rev. William F.
Moore of Illinois; and a niece, Deborah Moore Kent of Illinois; and a
sister-in-law, Judith A. Perry of Massachusetts.
Memorial calling hours will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. on Friday, May 11,
2001 at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at 10:30 a.m.
at the First United Methodist Church, Gilford Avenue, Gilford. The Rev.
Dr. Victoria Wood Parish, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial
will be in the family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland, Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United
Methodist Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 748, Gilford, NH 03427.
