Katie Burns, the five year old daughter of W.J. Burns, a contractor living
at 3201 Main Street, was burned to death at her father's home Tuesday night.
Mrs. Burns had left the house for the purpose of milking the cow, first
cautioning the child to keep away from the fire. A few moments later she was
horrified to see the little one rush screaming from the house, her clothes
all ablaze. The mother extinguished the flames as quickly as possible, but
the child had been so badly burned about the back and neck that its death
occurred a few hours later, about eleven o'clock.
