The only abbreviations I have ever seen in that column are NA for
naturalized, PA for first papers filed, and AL for alien.

Subject: [USA-Nat] Meaning of abbreviations on 1900 Census
Hi All
I would like to know if these are possible abbreviations and do they mean
anything. A kind person brought these possible abbreviations to my
attention. These possible abbreviations were found in 1900 Census in the
Naturalization Column.
These are the possible abbreviations in question: NO or VA or MA
Thank you for any help or suggestions in advance
