To all, a question about item #6

Article VI, Section 5 of our bylaws begins with

"The Advisory Board shall also have the responsibility to remove
links from the national website"

I am not clear as to your meaning of item 6. Are we still speaking of
removing links that appear on the national web site only, or is the
item addressing all web sites affiliated with the Project?

I realize the only direct control the AB has is the national web
site, but is this clear enough to prevent the AB, some day, of asking
a server to remove a link/site not on the national website?

If the AB does wish to have a link removed from a site not under its
immediate control, might the article include words to the affect that
the AB will direct state or project coordinators to remove the links
that are not in compliance or might contain inappropriate material?

Does the AB have that authority? I would believe a strong case could
be made that they do. From the standpoint of protecting the project
from inappropriate display of material on one of our web sites.
Someone has to have the final word in protecting the project.

6. Advisory Board. (USGenWeb Bylaw Article VI, Section 5). The Advisory
Board has the responsibility to remove links for those failing to meet
standards. Editing notes: Appropriate links will be embedded.
