I just wanted to let you all know that I am a candidate for the
Representative at Large position on the Advisory Board. I encourage you all
to get to know more about me, and about all the candidates in this upcoming
election for which you have the voting privilege. I believe if the project
members make informed decisions and vote in good numbers, it will be good
for the project.
I'm a long time genealogist, a pioneer in using the Internet to support
researchers, and a County Coordinator within the states of Missouri,
Tennessee and Idaho. I commit to enthusiastically represent all project
members as one of their voices on the Advisory Board during the coming two
years. I believe that my research and technical experience, my USGenWeb
involvement in multiple states and my temperment can be of value to the
project as a Board member. I greatly appreciate the fabulous resources that
USGenWeb has provided to me and other genealogists over the years and would
enjoy giving something back by representing you on the Advisory Board. For
more details as we move through the election period, you are invited to
visit my online campaign page at http://www.saintclair.org/genwebcandidate/
and the Candidate's Forums at http://www.temp-site.us.
I'd like to identify for you some of the issues that I believe are important
enough that they should be on the agenda for the board to tackle during
2005-2006.
- Build rapport between the AB and the project membership.
- Improve the channels by which the members and the AB communicate with each
other
- Implement board procedures that will help keep the AB focused and
efficient in its actions
- Encourage more knowledge within the project on the basics of our Bylaws
and commonly used portions of Sturgis, along with a strict practice of
following them.
There are more such priorities listed at my campaign site. Look for the
phrase "if you are a glutton for punishment" and see the link to my full
statement there. I'd also love to hear your ideas about what the most
important AB agenda items should be.
You are all invited to visit my USGenWeb County sites: Taney County in
Missouri, Grainger County in Tennessee and Teton County in Idaho. You will
find the links from my campaign site, identified above.
I encourage you to learn about all the candidates and select the one you
think will best represent you. And please encourage your coworkers in the
Project to do the same. If I'm your choice, I will do my best to make sure
the project is a support to you and not an obstacle. If someone else is the
choice of the majority, I will support that person and be no less committed
to helping USGenWeb be the most valuable resource it can be for researchers
and the most rewarding place possible for project members like you. Your
questions and comments are welcome as you fulfill this important
responsibility of choosing your representatives on the Advisory Board.
