For what it's worth, the Salem witches were supposedly hallucinating from what was essentially LSD which had grown on their wheat supply, which makes more sense than bored girls acting crazy for fun and not stopping even though it put their lives on the line, as well as their loved ones. As for Lilly, if she wasn't LDS, she was probably persecuted for her beliefs. I do think Mormons are progressing in open mindedness, but especially back then, a non Mormon was probably treated poorly by a highly Mormon populous. What better way to get back at the people you hated by leaving a relic that will always remind that there is, not necessarily evil, but opposing views in the land they considered sacred. I was raised LDS, but left at 14 and tried to be as sac religious as I could because I felt that a whole community was basically against me for not believing their fables. I went as far as branding myself with 666, which I do actually regret now, but it was my way of showing this ti!
ght knit community that I'm not with them, I'm against them. (for the record, I'm agnostic, but searching for truth. At this point in my life I actually thing Mormonism isn't the worst form of Christianity, and I do believe in Christs teachings, as far as he was a MAN with great ideas, but not in the perverted religions that skew his teachings for political and financial gain)
