Date: Wed, 12 Jun 2002 19:34:01 -0600
Dear members and friends of the Salt Lake Chapter of the Utah
Genealogical Association:
This Thursday, June 13, from 6:30-8:30 will be our next monthly chapter
meeting. It will be held in the west classroom of the FamilySearch
Center on the main floor of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt
Lake City (the same room as our first meeting).
Geoff Rasmussen, Vice-President of the chapter, will be the speaker.
The outline of the meeting will be as follows:
1) Introduction of the SLC UGA chapter website. Information about our
goal setting. We will discuss how the virtual meetings will work (July
and August's meetings will be held on this website).
2) City directory project. This was briefly mentioned at our last
meeting. The project will be explained. www.uscitydirectories.com is
the website.
3) Success story.
4) Presentation on "The Value of Documentation as it leads the
genealogist to a greater analysis of records."
4a) Geoff will compare a family group sheet to a chronology. The
importance and value of a chronology.
4b) Comparing different methods of documentation.
4c) Using historical information to aid the research process. The
Genelines software will be introduced (produces historical timelines).
4d) What do you do with individuals that you're not sure of how they fit
into the family?
My sincere apologies that this was not sent earlier. If you have any
questions, please don't hesitate to contact a member of the leadership.
Our information is at http://www.infouga.org/slchapter/#Officers.
Sincerely,
Diane McCracken, President
Doug Palmer, Vice-President
